Valet is an industry leader in bringing Green product options to the market and providing our customers with environmentally friendly choices. More than 95% of the wood products used in our shop are sourced from pre-consumer recycled materials. Several of our wood veneers are sourced from FSC certified sustainable forests. We utilize energy efficient LED lighting vs. florescent or halogen lights.

The Formaldehyde Question

Wood products such as particle board and plywood have in the past been associated with high levels of formaldehyde. All woods have trace elements of formaldehyde in them as a natural bi-product. It is the addition of urea-formaldehyde in the resins that bind the wood that raised health concerns. The enactment of strict government standards has succeeded in dramatically reducing urea-formaldehyde levels to the point where they can now not exceed 0.18 ppm (parts per million) and no longer pose a threat. For those with extreme allergies or other respiratory concerns there are products available with no added urea-formaldehyde and emissions less than 0.01 ppm. Ask your designer to learn more.
