Houzz - "The New Way to Design Your Home!"

You've probably seen us share information from Houzz on our social media channels like Facebook. You've probably read that we have won numerous awards from Houzz over the years. But have you ever taken the time to check out what Houzz is all about?

Say you are interested in redoing your closet. You'll most likely do some research before you start talking with contractors or going to get supplies if you plan to do it yourself. And this is where Houzz comes in. Any time you are doing any type of home improvement project, Houzz should be your first stop, for inspiration, ideas, and information.

After you create your account, type your basic search query in the search field, and right off the bat Houzz will help you find the direction you want to go.

By just searching for "Closet," I was given 112,308 photos that I can look through to piece together the closet of my dreams. From that high-level search, you can then refine your search with different variables such as location, budget, keywords and style to narrow your results even further, if you choose.

One of the many impressive things about Houzz is that the platform is built on the use of high-quality images to showcase professional's work. This means that many companies have professional photographers shoot their projects, so you just may be blown away by the incredible photos that will come up from your search.

Once you've started browsing through the photographs of different projects, you can add images to your own project ideabook. Not only can you save pictures for reference later, but you can also add your notes to them, as well, so that you can remember just what it was about a particular picture that you liked.

Another outstanding feature of Houzz is that you can send questions to the professionals behind the photos you are collecting. So if you like something from the picture, and there is no information about it, you can ask. If you like the colors, the fixtures, the layout, the hardware, you can ask the pro and get the answers you need about the components you want for your project.

This is a fantastic tool. Once you've done your research and have your ideabook full with the things you wish to use in your project, you can then search on Houzz for pros in your area and show them exactly what you had in mind for your new and improved space. They even have a mobile app, so you can bring your ideabook in on your smartphone or tablet, or you can simply share the link of your ideabook with the professional with whom you are working.

Houzz not only can help you with ideas for remodeling parts of your home but also with landscaping, interior design, pools, wine cellars and more. Also, Houzz has excellent articles about all things dealing with caring for and making improvements to your home.
